Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 材料科學與工程學系所 === 106 === Three novel photochromic-fluorescent polymers (P1, P2, P3) which consist of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) as a hydrophilic unit and tetraphenylethylene-spiropyran (TPE-SP) monomer as a fluorophore and photochromic unit are reported. These synthesized polymers are not only soluble in many common organic solvents, such as tetrahydrofuran (THF), dichloromethane, chloroform, methanol and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), but also soluble in water. The polymers exhibited strong emission in the solution which contain more than 70% water due to the TPE aggregation. P1 and P2 respond to good photochromic properties of spiropyran under UV irradiation, visible light as well as acid-base conditions. Especially, P1 and P2 in close form (CF) show high sensitivity with UV light and totally change to open form (OF) within 90 seconds whereas acidic media remains unaffected. Under open form, TPE units in polymers are non-emissive which could be turned on by visible light or addition of cyanide ion. Moreover, the polymer P2-OF showed high selectivity and sensitivity toward Cu2+ in aqueous solution with low limit of detection (0.41 M), which indicates a promising sensor device for future practical applications in chemical, environmental, and biological systems.
