According to the research, it has been pointed out that such bacteriostatic agents may cause allergies, pneumonia, and enhance the symptoms of asthma. The Ministry of Health in Taiwan has reported a clear residue specification for various sulfa drugs. In this study, a pre-oxidized electrode modified with manganese dioxide material was developed to detect SMZ electrochemically. In this study, screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) was used for pre-anodization in potassium permanganate solution. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) was used as a pre-oxidation method. During the potential scanning processes, the manganate ions was reduced to form MnO2 and deposited onto the electrode surface. In this way metal oxide modified electrode (SPCERD/MnO2) was fabricated. In previous studies, electrochemical pre-anodization and metal oxide deposition were used as different steps. This paper combined them into a one-step approach. MnO2 has been studied to be able to oxidize SMZ, and this study uses the excellent electrochemical activity of the pre-anodized electrode and the ability of MnO2 itself to oxidize SMZ, and the redox peak of SMZ dimers was used as quantitative signal. Along with the advantages of rapid electrochemical detection, we have developed a SMZ detection method that is inexpensive and simple.
