Summary: | 碩士 === 國立暨南國際大學 === 土木工程學系 === 106 === Drinking and driving (D&D) accidents have long since been a serious problem in Taiwan. Although incidence of D&D accidents has declined in recent years, D&D still happens with no end in sight. Even without causing accidents and/or injury, it remains a source of risk on the road. To prevent D&D, the government continues to enact amendments with more strict statutes and strongly advocates the use of ‘designated driver services’ in the hope of reducing D&D cases.
As designated driver service areas are not widespread in Taiwan, this study mainly investigates perceptions of designated driving among inebriated drivers in Nantou County and Taichung City with a survey on D&D participants in road safety programs that asks their willingness to use designated driver services and their willing-to-pay (WTP) prices. Results of this study show that driving distances can influence willingness to use designated driver services and WTP prices while age, income, family status and drinking habit are also influential factors. Gender, age, family status and experience with designated driving lead to differences in willing between Nantou County and Taichung City. It is hoped that the conclusion of this study can provide a direction and reference suggestions for future improvement of designated driver services.
