Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 工程管理碩士在職專班 === 106 === Population ageing has long been a global trend, during the ageing process of elders, facing various crises in their twilight years such as how to maintain happiness and reduce the decline in cognitive function so they can enjoy their lives in a manner of health and maintain dignity, is a concerned issue to all parts of society. The decline in cognitive function of the elderly will affect the life quality of individuals, independent living functions, and may even suffer from the Dementia. They confront not only the physical aging phenomena but life adaptations and challenges of changing roles. When individuals lack for goals and seeking the meaning of their lives, it is more likely to produce negative emotions. How we face the aging society and maintain a healthy mind and physical function while reducing illness and disability so that the elderly can keep their health in good condition in later years which can create more values and significances. In 1998, the World Health Organization redefined “health” and added “spirituality” as one of its key indicators. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to use case studies of spiritual learning on the cognitive function and quality of life of elderly people. Qualitative interview and quantitative research were adopted in this study, conducted case studies of elderly people aged 65 or above in the “retirement class” at the Bliss and Wisdom Educational Park. This study found that: Firstly, the spiritual learning is the spiritual knowledge learned through subjective experience, thereby seeks the meaning of life, perceives one's self and learns the meaning of life of one's self. Secondly, through the spiritual learning, the case is able to maintain normal performance of cognitive function. Thirdly, through the spiritual learning, the case will have life goals in the later years, and there is a positive relationship between the subjective feelings of the overall life quality and it. The specific contribution of this paper is that through case studies, people can be engaged in spiritual learning earlier, thereby preventing the rapid decline of the aging process and making a positive assessment to their sense of value in their later years.
