This system has two major advantages, including thrust bearing and radial bearing performance, and also provides multi-directional support forces and high stiffness to increase greater rotational stability. However, under certain operating conditions, MCAB systems exhibit non-periodic or chaotic motion due to non-linear pressure distribution within the film, unbalanced gas supply, improper design, and so on. Therefore, in order to understand and control when aperiodic motion of the bearing system occurs and under what operating conditions, the dynamic response of the MCAB system will be analyzed by three different methods, including the hybrid numerical method combined with the finite difference method and the differential transformation method. The key performance and solution under different physical models obtained through three different numerical methods were compared and verified. Through the bifurcation diagram, Poincaré map, power spectrum and Lyapunov exponent, the dynamic behavior of the rotor center under different conditions was studied.
