Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 國際政治研究所 === 106 === Turkey has started negotiation process with EU in 2005; however, only 13 out of 35 chapters opened for negotiation. Due to obstacles both at home and abroad, Turkish EU integration policy is like pendulum between Europeanization and Eurasianism. Turkey is geographically close to Asia and European continent so most of time Turkey stands between two extremes. This paper will analyze reasons why Turkish accession to the EU is full of challenges. This writer argues that internal and external factors hinder a smooth accession to this organization. Despite the importance of EU consumer market, Turkish labours in EU member states and people’s support for the accession to EU, the will of political elites and Turkish leadership in Middle East dominate its foreign policy to EU.
