Furthermore, working items and orders are important factors in a construction costs, however, many sub-project operations are mainly arranged by their experiences, including working items and working orders. Nowadays, government tenders are always in the minimum standard prices in Taiwan, and it led the results of minimum the project costs in each constructors considerations.
This study is aimed to optimize the earthwork transportation, and a common earthwork project is including excavation, loading, backfill operations, leveling, transport operations and so on. However, contractors always subcontract the project of excavation and transport operations to others in general reconstruction projects. Generally, a reconstructing area is always divided into several parts, and one part is divided into several field lots. These field lots could be excavated or backfilled, and the transportation costs are always estimated by experiences. Yet the real costs is not easy to calculate.
A reconstruction area is as an example in this study to build a linear programming model. The first step is to absorb the essential information in the project plan, then collect the data and construct the mathematical model which was written by Python language. Moreover, the objective function is to minimum the transportation costs in the minimum period. And the results shows that by using this model, compare to the traditional methods, the transportation costs can be saved up to 54.55%.
