碩士 === 明新科技大學 === 服務事業管理研究所碩士班 === 106 === The senior volunteers’ contribution has been recognized lately. This study explored the impact of volunteering careers on senior volunteers. This research uses in-depth interviews of qualitative research. The researcher interviewed nine senior volunteers who currently volunteer in one of the non-profit organization in Hsin-Chu County, Taiwan. According to the results of this research, the following conclusions were drawn: (1) The motivations for participation of senior volunteers are quite similar. In general they participated in volunteer services because of the friends’ invitations. In addition, helping people, spending their time for a better day and getting to know more people, etc. are also the reasons for them to join volunteer services. (2) The main reasons for senior volunteers to continue participating in volunteer service is the partnership. In addition, traveling distance from home and recognition of the organization were two significant factors. Many praises and affirmations were also important. (3) The influence of volunteering careers on senior volunteers included changing their attitudes for the later life, not expecting the offspring to fulfill the obligation to the parent, to take care of their own health, to enrich themselves, and to be happy every day. According to the results of the study, relevant recommendations are made to serve as a reference for relevant units to encourage and attract elderly people to continue to invest in voluntary services.
