The research objects are Liuqiu SCUBA divers. We study the current state of the well-being associated with the motivations and the activities involved in the diving process and show the importance and the uniqueness of Liuqiu for developing the diving industry. We hope to serve as a reference for related agencies. The research method is a questionnaire survey. The research objects are the divers in Liuqiu. A total of 300 questionnaires were distributed, and 300 valid questionnaires were recovered. The research tool is “A Study on the Motivation and Well-being of SCUBA Diving: an example of Pingtung Liuqiu Scenic Area”. The data is analyzed and the results are as follows: (1) Among the demographic variables, those who are male, aged 21-40, and unmarried are the most, and they are mainly living in the south of Taiwan, career as civil servants, with monthly income 25,000-60,000 New Taiwan Dollars. (2) In motivation scale, the highest score aspect is “physiological and psychological needs”, followed by “social interaction needs”, and “health needs”. In well-being scale, the highest score aspect is “life satisfaction”, followed by “self-confidence” and “self-assertion”. (3) Comparing the difference of Liuqiu divers’ participating motivation and well-being among the different demographic variables, we found that there is significant difference in “gender” and “monthly income”, and there is no significant difference in “age”, “marriage” and “residence” (p<.05). (4) The participating motivation and well-being of Liuqiu divers are highly correlated (p<.05). Finally, we make suggestions on Liuqiu SCUBA divers, hoping to raise the participating of SCUBA diving.
