It accounts for about a quarter of the total number of deaths worldwide. The setting of environmental facilities is related to the health of the people. But the most important factor affecting people is the personal lifestyle. Therefore, active participation is the most important way for people to promote health.
The purpose of leisure participation is to meet the leisure participants’ physiology, psychology and social needs and achieve physical and mental health. Furthermore, according to relevant researches, they are pointed out that residents in urban and rural are different in leisure activities, behavioral habits and health status because they are in two different regions.
Moreover, the high development brings the health, social, psychological and ecological issues. The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes on promoting the concept of “healthy city” to cope with the situation. Environmental indicators are an important part of healthy city, and the international indicators of the World Health Organization and the local indicators of all counties and cities in Taiwan include the part of the leisure environment. However, what is the framework of the leisure environment indicators in healthy city? What are the residents' cognitions and perceptions about leisure environment indicators under urban-rural differences? There are few related studies to discuss. Therefore, the study mainly constructs the indicators related to the leisure environment in the indicators of healthy city, and then discusses the differences between urban and rural. It also discusses the residents' cognitions and perceptions in two patterns.
First, the study collects relevant literature and organizes six indicators related to leisure environment, namely green coverage, accessibility of leisure facilities, public facilities, community participation, safety and landscape design. Second, the Experts' Investigation Method and Fuzzy Delphi Method are adopted to construct the different indicator structures of leisure environment in urban and rural areas. Third, the study applies public questionnaires and structural equation model to discuss the residents’ cognitions and perceptions in urban and rural. Finally, analyze the differences between urban and rural through the expert interviews, and provide the findings for the relevant departments.
