In the experiment, the bearings were rotated steadily in contact with the rotating tool, and the amount of instantaneous resistance change between the tool and the metal materials was measured. Taking five of Ø4.2mm straight shank drills as an example, the cutter can drill on the machine through the speed of 400rpm and feed rate of 25mm / min to drill depth of 1.5mm. By drill to contact the metal materials, the drill having different wear status contact resistance. By using the 3D profile Measurement System to calculate the different wear of the drill, drill lips found that the greater the wear, the contact resistance is relatively small. When the drill contact resistance drops to less than 90.8% of the new drill, means to severely wear of drill lips. Therefore, the average resistance value can be used to calculate the bit wear status, as a reference to replacing the drill bit. When the cutting of instantaneous contact resistance and non-contact resistance of the same value, on behalf of the drill broken. According to the experimental method, the drill wear can be detected on the machine center, and the drill bit replacement mechanism can be established.
