Due to the rapid development of technology, plus Taiwan joining the World Trade Organization, domestic traditional refractory industry is now facing the very big challenge, i.e., with the import opening, product’s quality, price, and technology competition. Therefore, this study aims to explore the key success factors of the development of domestic refractory industry development in order to the issues faced by enterprises when developing. The current research target is case company of domestic traditional refractory industry, the research framework of which is based on the Porter’s diamond theory. It applies the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), issues the questionnaire to interview the case company’s experts, and with their experiences analyzes and finds the industry’s key success factors. The six constructs in this study include production factors, requirement conditions, related and supportive supply industries, enterprise strategy-structure-competition, government, and opportunity. As the findings in this study show, in six constructs requirement conditions factor is the most important factor, followed in turn by production factor, enterprise strategy-structure-competition, etc. And for all evaluation rules, the top six important factors are product quality control capability, meeting the requirement of customers, the capability of obtaining the raw material, the requirement of customer’s technical service, the integration of upstream and downstream related supply chain, and production management scale and manufacturing capability. Obviously, creating demand, enhancing production capability, and enterprise strategy model are the important direction of domestic traditional refractory industry.
