In protecting the consumer rights and promoting the stable growth of the camping industry, campground management and regulation are subjects that need to be addressed by the government and business owners. The purpose of this study was to discuss the current managerial situation of campgrounds in Taiwan. The study utilized literature analysis and in-depth interviews as research tools. Interviews from campground operators of different sizes and regions are selected. Current management conditions of campgrounds are investigated based on eight aspects: The basic database analysis of the campgrounds, climatic condition, business status, personnel management, customer management, online platform usage, marketing, and the new camping approach. Based on the existing and future law regulations, the study further analyzed the possible issues of legalizing the camping industry. The study concluded as follows, 1) Regulations for camping industry: the most challenging aspect of conducting law regulations is in the area of land usage, soil and water conservation, and water pollution prevention. 2) Current management facts of campgrounds: Majority of the campground operators own the land. Sandpit and pool area are the main amenities provided in the campsites. Most of the campgrounds are at locations where travelers are allowed to enjoy the natural sceneries and ecological environments. Business owners are the ones who take part in operating and managing the campgrounds. In general, campgrounds open on weekends and statutory holidays. Customer complaints on the return of the deposit and the noises after quiet hours are common. The usage of the online platform is limited in proportion. Climate condition is one of the main factors that influence sales. The preliminary marketing method based on the messages posted on Facebook or the participation in camping clubs. The new luxurious camping style is believed to attract specific groups of customers. Based on the research results and further discussions, the relevant recommendations are put forward and provided to the campground operators and follow-up researchers as a reference.
