After connecting to the internet via the Wi-Fi medium, the smart socket can transmit electric features to the database server. Then, the electric appliance recognition will be done by Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithms. Finally, in order to verify the performance and the feasibility of the system, a prototype was built up and used to identify a common electrical appliance such as fan, lamp, or screen, which was connected to the socket. The test results show that the system can accurately identify different appliances. Besides, the practicality and the feasibility of the developed system is also validated through the tests.
