Spectroelectrochemical properties of polymer films reveal that P(dCzbp2-co-BTp1) with dCzbp:BTp =2:1 feed molar ratio film is yellowish green in the reduced state, greyish blue in the intermediate state, and greyish green in highly oxidized states. The optical contrast (∆T%) and coloration efficiency (η) of P(dCzbp2-co-BTp1) film are measured as 32.1% and 80.1 cm2 C-1, respectively, at 980 nm. ECDs are assembled using P(dCzbp), P(dCzbp2-co-dbBT2), P(dCzbp2-co-dbBT1), P(dCzbp2-co-BTp2) and P(dCzbp2-co-BTp1)) films as the anodic layer, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) film as the cathodic layer and a PMMA-ACN-DCM-LiClO4 composite film as the electrochromic electrolyte, which are denominated as P(dCzbp)/PEDOT, P(dCzbp2-co-dbBT2)/PEDOT, P(dCzbp2-co-dbBT1)/PEDOT, P(dCzbp2-co-BTp2)/PEDOT, and P(dCzbp2-co-BTp1))/PEDOT ECDs, respectively. P(dCzbp2-co-BTp1))/PEDOT ECD has the highest optical contrast (36.3%) and coloring efficiency (671.5 cm2 C-1) at 630 nm. The anodic copolymer with dTT:2-(2-thienyl)furan (TF) =1:1 feed molar ratio shows high ∆T and coloring efficiency (η), which are measured as 41.2% and 110.8 cm2 C-1 at 1000 nm, respectively. The P(dTT-co-TF) film shows three colors (light brown at 0.0 V, green at 0.8 V, and blue at 0.9 V) from the neutral state to oxidized states. Five dual type ECDs based on P(dTT), P(dTT-co-BTp), P(dTT-co-TF), P(dTT-co-CPdT) and P(dTT-co-CPdTK) films as anodic electrodes and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styrene sulfonic acid) (PEDOT-PSS) film as cathodic electrode are fabricated, which are denominated as P(dTT)/PEDOT-PSS, P(dTT-co-BTp)/PEDOT-PSS, P(dTT-co-TF)/PEDOT-PSS, P(dTT-co-CPdT)/PEDOT-PSS, and P(dTT-co-CPdTK)/PEDOT-PSS ECDs, respectively. Characterizations of five devices are performed using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and UV–Vis spectroscopy. P(dTT-co-TF)/PEDOT-PSS ECD shows light silver grey at 0.0 V, greyish blue at 0.7 V, and blue at 2.0 V. The ECD has high optical contrast (44.7%) and coloring efficiency (528.9 cm2 C-1) at 680 nm.
