This research intends to explore what critical activities can actually assist social enterprises to create value and sustainability and exert their social impact while accomplish their social mission. This research adopts structured interviews and questionnaires to investigate the complete value chain of social enterprise and identify its critical value activities. Based on the researcher’s personal involvement in social enterprises, four social enterprises are chosen from the fields of social services, the actual agricultural products, education and training services and professional services. They also meet the criteria of minimum 3 years of operation and good market reputation. A total of 10 verbatim drafts, 151,442 words, were collected in six months. Through semantic analysis and questionnaires, main conclusions of this research are drawn as follows: 1. Ten value activities were collected through interviews, then were ranked based on the statistic results of the questionnaire. The top five respectively are "social entrepreneurship concept and cultural shaping," "understanding the social demand market," "quality management on social process," "social resource organization and strategy formulation", and "demand on social value product." 2. Social entrepreneurship concept and cultural shaping is the most influential critical value activity on the sustainability of a social enterprise. 3. The social influence of social enterprise is not only on the stakeholder, but also on the environment and other aspects. 4. The main purpose of social enterprise is to solve current problems, not necessarily to maximize profit or expand the market share. 5. Social enterprise can increase revenue rapidly by producing mass consuming products or creating their own brand. 6. Not only can fundraising platform gather fund needed, but it can become a marketing method for social enterprise. 7. Social enterprise can use innovative marketing concept to create an atypical channel, which can reduce costs and enlarge its market share. 8. By appealing to their social mission, social enterprise can still be successful in marketing without profit-oriented marketing strategy. 9. The establishment of social enterprise is based on its concern to society and social welfare, therefore an interpersonal network and organization formed with a similar philosophy can support a more stable development. Recommendation were made according to the major finding. Lucia S. Sih-Ling Lin ph.d. 林思伶 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 144 zh-TW |
