碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 織品服裝學系碩士在職專班 === 106 === The thesis examined the collection which includes 69 pieces of qipaos and 8 pieces jackets of Madam Wen from the Chinese Textiles and Clothing Culture Center, Department of Textiles and Clothing, Fu Jen Catholic University, and focused on the connection between Madam Wen’s life history and qipaos. This research study further explored the context among people, qipaos, and the society in Taiwan through Madam Wen’s life story and experiences. First of all, the researcher examined all the 77 pieces qipaos and jackets in details and analyzed them. To identify the years, occasions, and further information regarding the apparels from the pictures, interviews with Madam Wen’s relatives and friends were taken place. Secondly, the researcher conducted a content analysis to examine the qipao styles during 50s’ to 70s’ in Taiwan from the infomation of Qipao master and The Women magazines. The finding of this research study showed significant relationship between Madam Wen’s the qipaos and personal life. The qipaos were the media she used to express her self-identify, characters, and aesthetics. They represent the memories of her life experiences, such as the occasions she attended with her love and the joyful moments she had with her families. Her tastes and preferences that were influenced by her family and educational background further impact her pursuit of the satisfaction of life. In brief, fashion styles of apparel change each decade and help reveals the development of a society in different eras.
