碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 音樂學系 === 106 === Certain fields of Western arts in the history can be influenced to each other as a mutual effect. By taking a closer view of the development of the history of Western music and the history of Western art, especially, at the end of the 19th century, the phenomenon of art works influenced from each other are quiet distinctly. This thesis will focus on the flute work “Suite Pointillistique, Op.135” by German composer Karg – Elert. Pointillism can be investigated from the viewpoint of differentiate of painting and music. Chapter 1 is an introduction of the research motivation, scope and methods. Chapter 2 introduces the background of the German composer Karg – Elert and the style of his works. Chapter 3 organizes the feature and the works of music and painting on pointillism also the background of the Suite Pointillistique, Op.135. Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 are analysis and interpretation to the music structure of Suite Pointillistique, Op.135 was produced by Karg – Elert. The last chapter is the summary of this thesis.
