In the first section,a 10 Gbit/s on-off keying (OOK) FSO signal is achieved after passing through a 25 km single-mode fiber (SMF) transmission and a free space transmission length of 6 m long for the bi-directional downstream and upstream traffics in each optical wireless unit (OWU). The received sensitivity of FSO downstream and upstream signals are -34.5 and -29.5 dBm respectively, while the FSO wavelength of 1530.33 nm is used.Moreover, to demonstrate the optimal transmission length of 1000 m free space link, the accurately simulation of the proposed FSO WDM system is studied and analyzed. In the second section,we demonstrate experimentally a 10 Gbit/s OOK bidirectional WDM FSO architecture which is integrated in fiber network under the 5 m free space transmission length and 25 km fiber link, respectively. A pair of OWU can be located arbitrarily for bidirectional FSO data transmission based on the requirement of practical environment. The relationship of FSO signal performance and detected tolerance are also discussed and analyzed. In addition, the proposed WDM-FSO network not only can achieve exclusion connection with confidentiality, but also can avoid the Rayleigh Backscattering (RB) beat noise in fiber access.
