The two-dimensional periodic array structure is then applied to fabricate a novel airborne spherical polyhedron stealth radome. The novel radome can reduce the difficulty induced by the pattern mapping and the manufacturing process of 3D frequency selective surfaces. This study uses ANSYS Designer to optimize the FSS design with a transmitting frequency of 10 GHz. Combining this pattern with a spherical polyhedron model, the analysis of the radiation pattern of a horn antenna and the radome is performed by using the high frequency electromagnetic analysis software ANSYS HFSS. The frequency selection surface is fabricated by the screen printing method and then tailored and pasted onto a spherical polyhedron mold. The radiation pattern and transmission efficiency of the spherical polyhedron frequency selective radome is measured in a microwave anechoic chamber. The results show that the maximum gain is 16.27 dB for the horn antenna at 10 GHz. With a frequency selective spherical polyhedron radome, the maximum gain remains at 16.14 dB. This indicates that the novel spherical polyhedron stealth radome has good frequency selection performance and low radar cross section for the antenna.
