Focusing on the residents of Qingshui District, a questionnaire was designed based on related information and 5 preceding interviews, distributed to 437 residents with 404 valid responses. The results showed that, women are more willing to join than men; the age range of 51-60 shows a relatively higher inclination to get involved; and those who had served in community development associations are the most enthusiastic, who also strongly agree with the idea of area adoption for regular management and maintenance. Shown by analysis, personal experiences differs in the concept of Mounuments preservation, it will also affect the inclinations to participate in it. And the study found positive correlation between the willingness to participate and the attitude. Lastly, this research suggests Ministry of Culture to increase opportunities for the public to engage in monument preservation by holding events, promoting the release of information on phases of monument preservation projects, and setting up cooperation mechanisms. Furthermore, it recommends residents to incorporate the historical image of monuments in local businesses, and to strengthen community networks to encourage residents’ lifelong learning and engagement in the monument preservation so as to make the work sustainable.
