Summary: | 碩士 === 大葉大學 === 運動健康管理學系 === 106 === Tianzhong Marathon is a race event planned based on two objectives, including “promoting local agricultural products” and “developing local features”. It has enjoyed wide popularity among runners and is also one of the must-run races for many domestic runners. The subjects of this study were participants in the 2017 Tianzhong Marathon. The research instrument was a questionnaire consisting of questions that evaluate the destination image of Tianzhong for runners, participants’ flow experience during the race, and their place attachment. The questionnaire was pre-tested and also evaluated for reliability by experts. Participants were selected based on purposive sampling to answer the structured questionnaire. 400 copies of the questionnaire were distributed on the carbo-loading night and after the race. 335 valid responses were collected, resulting in a valid response rate of 83.75%.
Results showed that destination image was positively and significantly related to place attachment; destination image was positively and significantly related to flow experience; flow experience was positively and significantly related to place attachment. These findings suggested that the participants in Tianzhong Marathon perceived a good image of the place, and the better the flow they experienced in the race, the greater their attachment to Tianzhong would be. The participants’ place attachment mainly stemmed from the destination image of Tianzhong. The empirical results of this study could be a reference for the organizer of Tianzhong Marathon and also be extended to other marathon races.
