It’s also tries to understand the differences background variables on elderly personality traits, medication compliance behaviors and prevention against fall behaviors.
In this study, using questionnaire to collecting data. The participants in study were over sixty-five years old adult in Taichung Citizen Adult Education Program. The questionnaires were issued 420 questionnaires removed invalid samples, 393 valid samples, the effective response rate was 93.6%. The data was analyzed by Descriptive Statistic, Independent Sample T-test, Analysis of Variance, Pearson Correlation and Chi-Square Test. The result showed that the gender rate of female, with age of 65-70, marital status of married, university level of education, chronic disease number of a type, the self-perceived health status of better. According to the study showed among personality traits, medication compliance behaviors and prevention against fall behaviors had a significant difference with the background. The elderly personality traits and medication compliance behaviors had significant positive effect but the elderly personality traits and prevention against fall behaviors hadn’t. The elderly medication compliance behaviors had significant moderately correlated on prevention against fall behaviors.
According to the result, the elderly has taken together medicine and traditional Chinese medicinal or by self-perceived health status. The elderly will be daily habits and the lower awareness of medication side effects decreases as prevention behaviors. However, the education is significantly different in all variables, and the distribution of personality traits is conscientiousness. These elderly usually self-disciplined and manage their own medication behaviors, and have a higher awareness of medication side effects. Finally, the study proposed practical and research recommendations, and provides reference for researchers or government design policy development or related research in the elderly medication compliance behaviors and prevention against fall behaviors.
