This study includes two following main topics: Topic 1: The research on wireless fidelity technology; Topic 2: Applying Wi-Fi Technology to transmit and receive ECG signals. The Wi-Fi is a wireless communication technology based on IEEE 802.11n specifications. Its signal transmission is rated up to 450 Mbps and the signal transmission distance is up to 300 meters. The Wi-Fi technology is usually used in the short distance. Such Wi-Fi technology is used to transmit ECG signals of the elderly who needs long-term follow-up to the elderly home Wi-Fi signal receiver. After signal analysis, the elderly ECG-related information is sent to his family or hospital-related medical staff by internet. If necessary, emergency assistance can be provided immediately. This paper concludes with two experiments to verify that the ECG signal sent to his family is correct. The ECG signals includes: (i) finding the position of the QRS wave using the Difference Operation Method (DOM), and (ii) calculating the qualitative feature values of the qualitative features. The experimental results show that the proposed ECG signal transmission and receiver is a simple and effective way to transmit ECG-related information to his family or medical staff.
