From 2005 to 2015, 300 million people suffered from depression globally, which is 4.4% of the world’s population. This figure has increased by 18.4% in the past decade. Therefore, the World Health Organization celebrated the World Health Day in 2017 on the theme of depression, an increasingly common mental health issue. In particular, postpartum depression (PPD) has becomes a growing concern for women’s mental health. To reconstruct the essence and meaning of women’s experiences in postpartum depression while they lived in postpartum nursing home for analysis, this study adopted qualitative research approach. Purposive sampling was used to recruit women who experienced postpartum depression while recovering in the postpartum nursing home of a medical center in central Taiwan. One-on-one in-depth interviews were conducted, and audio records of the interviews were kept to collect research data until data saturation. A total of 10 participants were interviewed. The Tesch (1990) eight steps of data analysis were used. The results presented three main themes and nine sub-themes: (1) Sweet Burden: role change; overburdened body; and time and space confusion sleep. (2) Complicated feeling: the multitude of state of mind; high self-requirements; self-contradictory emotions. (3) Distributing Clouds and Seeing the Sun: Seek assistance and release pressure; accompany with friends and relatives, support and encouragement; self-adjustment by personality. The results of this study show that post-partum women experience postpartum depression even in a comfortable environment and under the care of professionals. Postpartum depression women are facing some difficulties while they stays in postpartum nursing home, and finally they are able to cope their emotion using strategies, and to adjust the attitude in the face of postpartum depression state. In other words, in the process of dealing with postpartum depression experience, postpartum depression women takes a passive attitude instead. In the era of low birthrate, government agencies have formulated many plans to encourage and reward women in their child-bearing age. However, how to provide postpartum women with more comprehensive postnatal psychological care is even more urgent. We hope that the results of this study can provide clinical practice or future references for related research. CHING, YUNG-CHIEH 靖永潔 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 119 zh-TW |
