The study adopted a questionnaire survey to sample survey on 6 schools located within 60 schools of Taoyuan City. “Questionnaire on Key Factors of Junior High School Students Choosing School under Twelve-year Compulsory Education” developed in this study is the main measuring tool. The questionnaire was given to a sample of 480 students from 6 junior high schools using the cluster sampling technique which randomly selects groups of students from different schools. Of those questionnaires 442 copies were effective, accounting for 91.48% of the total collected. These data have been examined and analyzed separately by statistical tools such as frequency distribution and percentile, t - test, one- way ANOVA, and regression analysis. The results have been further investigated and discussed with statistical methods to draw the following conclusions: There was widespread recognition of twelve-year compulsory education for junior high school students in Taoyuan City , the most influences was “the ways of entering schools”. The key factors influencing the choice of junior high school students in Taoyuan City was the personal factor for the highest. The most popular education system in junior high school students was “senior high school”. Junior high school students in Taoyuan City was positively correlated with the twelve-year compulsory education and the key factors of the choice of entrance. Based on these results, suggestions for education authorities and high schools to run schools, recruit students and guide student progression are presented.
