Summary: | 碩士 === 中華大學 === 企業管理學系 === 106 === The continuous advancement of technology, the widespread use of mobile phones and the rapid development of instant messaging software, coupled with the convenience of the Internet, make it easier for people to get in touch with the Internet. This is why instant messaging software has become the most commonly used application for everyone. For middle school students, the use of instant messaging software not only changes the interaction between parent-children and peers but also causes children to suffer from technological burdens and psychological pressure due to their inability to leave their mobile phones or worry about missing any messages. All of the above factors will affect students’ use of instant messaging software intent.
This study sought to understand the relationship between the different types of parenting styles, social support, technostress, Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and Facebook Messenger use behavior. A total of 1,121 students from a national junior high school in Taoyuan City in 2017 were studied. There are 1,076 valid samples. The results of the study are summarised as follows:
1.The recognition of parents in terms of parenting styles and social support is higher than average, and it is acknowledged that most parental rearing styles are highly responsive and demanding, cheerful and authoritative types; but for technostress, Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and Facebook Messenger use behavior was slightly lower than average.
2.There is a significant positive correlation between social support and technostress on Fear of Missing Out (FoMO).
3.Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) has a significant positive correlation with the Facebook Messenger use behavior.
4.Different parental rearing styles, social support, and technostress can effectively predict Fear of Missing Out (FoMO).
5.Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) can effectively predict Facebook Messenger use behavior.
6.The grades of the students only have significant differences with the parenting style and the Fear of Missing Out (FoMO). The academic achievement is only significant with social support, technostress, and Facebook Messenger use behavior.
7.There are significant differences in the three constructs of Facebook Messenger use behavior and low-community social support, technostress, and Fear of Missing Out (FoMO).
Finally, based on the results of the study, various suggestions are made to provide parents, educators, and those who want to study further.
