Summary: | 碩士 === 中華大學 === 科技管理學系 === 106 === The strength of a nation is built on the physical strength of its people. Therefore, to strengthen a nation, we need to improve the physical strength of its people. By nature, children enjoy playing at their leisure time, but the number of elementary school students participating in sports after school is shrinking and the time decreasing. At school, students spend less time in physical education. Hence, this study divides the willingness of elementary school students to participate in sports after school into three aspects: the personal interest, family support, and social atmosphere. We then use a system dynamic model to construct a causal diagram. Our study shows that the personal interest in sports, family support, and social atmosphere are positively correlated with the willingness of elementary school students to participate in sports after school. Based on the causal diagram and experiment of our system dynamic model, we also found the positive driving factors include the variety of sports, hands-on experience with parental participation, convenience in transportation, safety of the facility, and financial support from the government. Our findings support that the government should provide more financial support for 1) improving access by means of public transportation and safety of the sports facilities; 2) encourage more school- or industry-sponsored sports activities for both children and their parent to participate; 3) improve the diversity of the physical education courses to make them more interesting. This way we may build up a solid foundation for the pyramid of population participating in sports, so that our people can cultivate a good habit of regular exercise. These strategies may help discover and train extraordinary athletes who will shine internationally for Taiwan.
