Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 戰略暨國家安全碩士在職專班 === 106 === For a long time, it has been debating about whether terrorism would be the major safety concerns in Taiwan, and whether that Taiwan would be the attacking target of the international terrorism organizations. Most citizens seem not to see it as a safety threat. Taiwan's Executive Yuan has drafted a counter-terrorism act in 2003 but related laws have not been made. Taiwan should have to work harder on the mechanism of countering terrorism.
Such terrorist activities occurred in Western countries have not occurred in Taiwan, so that Taiwan citizens have not sensed threats of terrorism. If Taiwan is the main attacking target of the terrorism, can we cope with any possible terrorist activities with the strategy of the decentralization of central and local governments? In the global war on terrorism, whatever we do in Taiwan, such as setting up intelligence-led enforcement and supporting for counter-terrorism actions, always meets the international demands, and we hope any related international and regional organization can render more support and aid to Taiwan. In addition, we also hope that China can deem seriously the safety needs of a population of 23 million in Taiwan. Only by overthrowing political restrictions can we take participate jointly in countering terrorism internationally or regionally.
