Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 通訊工程研究所 === 106 === In wireless environment, the path loss is getting larger for higher carrier frequency. In order to get over high path loss in mm-wave frequency band, massive MIMO and beam-forming techniques were introduced into 3GPP 5G NR system. However, beam alignment can be easily destroyed by small variation in device behaviors such as displacement especially for systems with narrow beams, and that degrades significantly the link performance. Hence, beam management procedure is required to ensure the system operate the way it was designed.
In this thesis, we discuss the effects of proposed beam recovery procedure under UE (user equipment) displacement in an outdoor environment in which the 3GPP 3D channel model is used to model the channel characteristics. Also, beam management resource, i.e. time structure and synchronization signal block is considered. Our results show that for beam recovery procedure design, UE location information needs to be considered so that beam recovery redundancy probability can be reduced by 21% to 26% without RSRP loss.
