Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 心理學系研究所 === 106 === This study applied false recognition paradigm and process dissociation procedure to examine how perceivers’ mood states (happiness, control, and sadness) and actors’ trait valences (positive and negative) moderated spontaneous trait inferences (STIs). Compared to the control condition, happy participants were more prone to make STIs, while sad participants showed an equivalent tendency with the control condition. All participants had higher tendency to make STIs for positive traits compared to negative traits. The analysis of the process dissociation procedure showed that controlled processing estimates in sad participants were higher than those in the control condition. However, different from the hypothesis, both controlled and automatic processing estimates among happy participants were equivalent to those among the control condition. A comparison between trait valences showed that the moderating effect of mood operated in negative traits but not in positive traits.
