Due to socioeconomic transformation, cultural Change, increased education level of female, and awakening of feminist consciousness, numerous females enter workplace. At the same time, males pay more attention on family activities and share housework. Traditional collaboration model about “males take charge of external matters while females take care of domestic matters” has gradually faded away. However, traditional gender role values are still prevalent in our lives. Even so, with social change, females put more resource into their business, and males put more effort into their family than ever before. When people need to take responsibilities of work and family at one time, the relations between work and family become strained. In addition, Gender role attitude may influence divisions of work and domestic labor, while responsibilities and loads of work and family roles may lead to work family conflict. Therefore, this study examined the relationship between traditional gender schema and work family conflict, investigated the mediation effect of work/family demand, and the moderation effect of sex. The target group of this study was focus on Taiwanese organizations, which include 80 managers and 239 employees. The results indicated that: 1. Perceived work demand had significantly positive association with work-family conflict, and perceived family demand had significantly positive associ- ation with family-work conflict; 2. Sex of employee didn’t moderate the relationship between traditional male schema and work demand / work-family conflict, neither the relationship between traditional female schema and family demand / family-work conflict. 3. Work demand and family demand didn’t have significant indirect effects. The suggestions for future study and the empirical implication is presented at the end of the study.
