Given at least eight hour of working time per day for white collar workers, offices becomes one of the most important places for them in their daily life. The importance of office design and environment is obvious, since previous study finding already revealed that the physical environment have the significantly affect on employees’ job satisfaction, performance, well-being, and health. Thus, companies are expected to exert more effort in creating an ideal workplace so that employees can have a better working experience. This study follows the research streamline to further explore the questions: 1) whether individual differences will affect their preference on office layout? 2) how will the gap between employees’ ideal layout and the real workplace setting affect employees’ workplace satisfaction, wellbeing and job involvement? Meanwhile, this study also investigates the ranking of workplace benefits for different population. The result shows that personality traits are not directly related to office layout preferences. Generally, most of office workers in Taiwan prefer individual office and traditional office than open-plan office. The difference between the office preference and the current office layout is related to employees’ satisfaction, wellbeing and job involvement in the way that larger gap lead to lower satisfaction, well-being, and job involvement.
