博士 === 元智大學 === 管理學院博士班 === 105 === Despite of crucial contributions on international business management, Global Integration and Local Responsiveness (IR) framework does not seem to catch up with dramatic and significant changes of today business. To enhance the theory by dealing with such static problem, this paper, therefore, brings uncertainties in external environment as well as movements of international strategies into the framework. Under a dynamic capability angle – dynamic capabilities process consisting sensing, seizing and transforming –, a new concept building for international business – dynamic IR framework – would be introduced and explicated. Our analysis follows a principle of content analysis method applied for a multiple-case approach. Eight types of strategic movements have been detected via 25 case studies collected from public case banks such as Harvard Business School, Asia Case Research Center, and IBS Center for Management Research, etc. Our empirical results expose that most MNEs’ strategic developments in the global market generally follow a low-to-high pattern of environmental changes. More importantly, environmental dynamics play either a pulling, or a pushing role in international firms’ strategic movements.
