碩士 === 元智大學 === 應用外語學系 === 105 === One Piece has been serialized on SHUEISHA's weekly juvenile JUMP (WEEKLY JUMP) since 1997, and has been translated into more than 30 languages all over the world. With more than 300 million circulation worldwide, One Piece is a well-known and popular comic work, which breaks countless records. One Piece is the story of Monkey D. Luffy who’s gonna be king of the Pirates trying to fight enemies and grow up with the adventurous partners in pursuit of the legendary One Piece. The author Oda Eiichiro plays its infinite imagination, depicting fantasy scenes and portraying unique characters, creating adventures with backgrounds as big pirates. The same as movies and dramas, there are not only a protagonist in a comic, but also a lot of the supporting roles in the work. One Piece is a fantasy adventure comic, so the supporting roles of the villains in the works as a hindrance to the protagonist are very important. The villains, as the troublemakers who bring sad and painful, play the role which bring the protagonist various trials in the comic world. In this study, the representative role of the villains are selected and analyzed according to the factors such as their nature, identity, personality and social attributes. By studying the roles of the Villains to bring the protagonist of the trial, and realizing the protagonist how to overcome the trial, the study can figure out the charm of the protagonist.
