Summary: | 碩士 === 臺北市立大學 === 數學系數學教育碩士班 === 105 === Happy Elementary School employs the community’s resources to execute its math learning counseling project. The objective of this research is to study the establishment and execution, achievements, and obtained conclusive contents of the project in hopes of providing referential information, directions and strategies to schools which intend to make use of volunteer resources to assist them in pushing forward other remedial teaching projects.
This research adopts mixed-research method, using three questionnaires respectively for volunteers, teachers and students to conduct descriptive analysis of questionnaire results, plus semi-structured interviews with volunteers, teachers and students, complete with actual observation method and comprehensive data collection methods such as documents collection. Finally, this research integrates questionnaire results, interview records, observational records and documents collection so as to conduct data cross-examination with a view to reviewing the credibility of research results.
Research conclusions:
1. The number of students attending learning counseling and the number of volunteers have both increased year on year.
2. The objective of the project is to assist low-achievement students, share teachers’ responsibilities and compensate for the inadequacy of the Ministry of Education’s remedial teaching project.
3. There is no unified score threshold for homeroom teachers to evaluate and refer the objects, students don’t need their parents’ permission before attending learning counseling courses, no official assessment is conducted, and learning counseling courses take place during morning independent study time.
4. Attendance motives are inclined toward societal interests, and the greatest attendance motive is “wanting to help learning-disadvantaged students.”
5. There are multiple reasons for learning counseling volunteers serving their respective grades, and job assignment is the primary reason.
6. “High risk or culturally-disadvantaged families in need of learning assistance resources” is the referral factor with the highest matching degree.
7. Teaching method is primarily based on math test paper practice, and students’ behavior and attitude affect teaching the most.
8. In terms of the dimension of volunteers’ evaluating teaching outcomes, whether or not the student’s learning attitude has become more active has the highest matching degree, whereas the affective dimension and growth of learning ability are valued more highly than mark results.
9. Homeroom teachers think it is necessary to have volunteers’ math learning counseling project, and volunteers, homeroom teachers and students all think volunteers’ math learning counseling project is effective in terms of teaching and student learning.
10. The project possesses administrative effectiveness, so it can compensate for the Ministry of Education’s remedial teaching project.
Research Recommendations:
1. Teaching training programs should be provided in order to boost volunteers’ teaching capability; the teaching hours of the learning counseling project and manpower deployment should be adjusted; and learning counseling volunteers can serve as backup teaching manpower for the Ministry of Education’s remedial teaching project.
2. This project can provide referential information, directions and strategies in the future for schools which intend to employ volunteer resources to assist in pushing forward other remedial teaching projects.
