Replacing or complementing the existing identification methods, the use of the unique biological characteristics of individuals to identify improves the accuracy of recognition. The application of biometric identification technology can be a real effective solution to security certification issues. Biometrics has been developing for many years. Recently, due to the advancement of modern science and technology, including the enhancement of security awareness, it pushes the application of biometric identification technology into more areas of public safety, such as entry and exit management, smart housing and access control. Biometric identification technology has a better recognition rate than that with the traditional method of identification. The technique is mature and highly secure. In the biometric identification technology, face recognition is the best method and does not require a close contact. Comparing to other biometric technologies, the face recognition technique is closer to us and change our lives. The application includes the electronic products, the information systems, and the financial transactions. The mature face recognition technique becomes the mainstream for the identity certification. In this thesis, it focuses on the face recognition, and analyzing and comparing the techniques and methods used in face recognition systems. The analysis of the advantages and the drawbacks of each method is the main purpose of this work.Then, the work analyzes the technical differences among those methods. It gives a conclusion of the necessity of technical methods to the identification system. It is expected to analyze the face recognition system processes and gives researchers and developing staffs for a reference.
