This study discusses about the students learning styles and their preferences to teachers teaching styles, at the same time, to discussthe differences preference by using different background variables. The method of the study was to choose the sample which ranged from 5 public and private vocational high schools in Taoyuan, a total of 952 questionnaires distributed, 805 valid questionnaires were recovered, the effective response rate was 84.56%, supplemented by averages, percentages, standard deviation, , independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson product-moment correlation.
After processing and analyzing the data, the conclusions are as follow:
1. As for the learning style of Taoyuan vocationa l high school students , 44% of them were “Accommodator”, and 17% were “Converger”, 22% were“Assimilator” and17% were “Diverger”. The distribution of sample present the diversity of the students learning styles.From the result,all the learning styles should be understood.
2. There were clear difference between different departments. Most of the students from Department of Industry, Department of Agriculture,and Department of Home Economics were “Accommodator”; the students who majored in Department of Business were “Assimilator” at most; The learning style of no matter what kind of“gender”, “grades”, “school system” and “school properties” are not so much difference .
3.The students preference for the teaching style from high to low is “Contracting”, “Group-Directed Styles”, “Exploring” and “Teacher-Directed Styles”.
4.All grades of students were dislike the teaching styles of “Teacher-Directed Styles” the most.The second grade prefer “Group-Directed Styles” more the third grade .The second grade and third grade prefer “Exploring”and “Contracting” more than first grade.
5.The “Accommodator” prefers the teaching styles of “Group-Directed Styles” and “Contracting” more than the“Converger”. The others had no apparent diffenece.
