However, the design specifications for buttresses and cross walls are yet to be developed. To find out how to design these structures for the optimized benefits both safely and economically, the 3D finite element analysis program, PLAXIS 3D, was introduced to investigate the effects of various conditions of buttress wall and cross wall installation (including spacing, length, penetration depth, height and buttress walls in T-shaped configuration) on the suppression on diaphragm wall displacement and ground settlement, and determine the efficiency of these installations in the case study. The results suggested that the spacing, penetration depth and length of buttress and cross walls had greater influence on the diaphragm wall displacement and ground settlement than thickness and height. A series of normalized formulae were proposed and tabulated for the design reference for the industry. Shong-Loong Chen 陳水龍 學位論文 ; thesis 0 zh-TW
