To analyze network performance, those SDN controller and switches were modelled by M/M/1 queue. The bandwidth is adopted as service rate and the data plane is considered as a Jackson network. Regarding for the situation that packets may be loss, it added the retransmission probability as the parameter to show that is a network in highly congested what the effect of packet loss would be. In order to examine the accuracy of proposed model, the research did intensive simulations to investigate the network performance between the model and semi-real operations through simulations. In simulation setup, the thesis used Ryu controller and Open vSwitch(OvS) which support OpenFlow protocol, and applied Mininet as the network emulator. The simulation scenario considered for multiple SDN switches topology. The OvS orders packet commands to classify into four types and sends them to the corresponding queues to acquire different bandwidth. There are many experiments designed by this thesis and the results showed that the performance evaluated by mathematical analysis would be very close to the practical network operation, especially when the traffic were mostly Poisson-based data flows, instead of deterministic-based streaming ones. 柯開維 2017 學位論文 ; thesis 72 zh-TW
