Use of antibiotic-loaded bone cements is one of the most effective methods for the prevention and treatment of prosthetic joint infection. However, it has a poor elution rate. Many studies have been conducted with different types and doses of antibiotics and other substances, such as xylitol , in order to enhance elution rate. In this study, we evaluated the effects of the monomer-to-polymer ratio, radiopacifier ratio, benzoyl peroxide ratio and doses of gentamicin added on the elution, mechanical properties, and porosity of antibiotic-loaded bone cement. The results show the decreasing of monomer-to-polymer ratio and increasing of radiopacifier ratio and doses of gentamicin additive leads to increased release of antibiotic and porosity. Increasing of monomer-to-polymer ratio and increasing of benzoyl peroxide ratio will increase the compressive strength. However, increasing the amount of gentamicin will lead to decreased compressive strength. 方旭偉 2017 學位論文 ; thesis 110 zh-TW |
