A Study on Attitudes and Behavioral Intentions towards the Elders of General and Vocational High School Students in Taichung City

碩士 === 東海大學 === 教育研究所在職專班 === 105 === This study aimed to investigate the current situations of the attitudes and behavioral intentions towards the elders among students of general and vocational high schools in Taichung city, to compare the students’ attitudes and behavioral intentions between student groups stratified by student characteristics, and to estimate the correlations between students’ attitudes and behavioral intentions. This study was implemented through a questionnaire survey on 580 eligible enrolled student participants in the first grade of high schools of Taichung city using Likert scales on the attitudes and behavioral intentions towards the elders for high school students. The results are as follows: 1. In most of the high school students, both the attitudes and behavioral intentions towards the elders tended to be positive on the scales. 2. The attitudes towards the elders differed significantly between student groups stratified by opposite sex and different frequencies of contacts with the elders,respectively.But these attitudes did not differ significantly between groups stratified by different religious reliefs, or between groups who studied aging curriculum and not. 3. The behavioral intentions towards the elders likewise differed significantly between student groups stratified by opposite sex, different religious beliefs and different frequencies of contacts with the elders, respectively. But these intentions did not differ significantly between groups who studied aging curriculum and not. 4. However,there was a significant negative correlation between the students' attitudes and behavioral intentions towards the elders. 5. The attitudes towards the elders significantly predicted the behavioral intentions towards the elders.
