Description
Summary:碩士 === 東海大學 === 高階經營管理碩士在職專班 === 105 === Business model innovation refers to the changes occurring in existing business models in response to external and internal environmental changes. However, little is known about what causes business model innovation. The study aims to understand the antecednets of business model innovation. To do this, an in depth case study in the Taiwan Pet Chain Stores is used. In this study, I develop an integrated model of how top management teams (TMT) can enhance the relationship between environments dynamic, entrepreneurial orientation, and business model innovation. First, I employ threat-rigidity as well as prospect theory to examine business model innovation in response to environments dynamic (external threats and opportunities). In addition, from an upper echelons perspective, I argue that TMT external advice-seeking impact the ability of top managers to enhance business model innovation when environments are dynamic. Finally, drawing on the behavioural theory of the firm, I argue that the past entrepreneurial orientation of a firm creates path dependencies that influence the propensity of the firm to innovate its business model. Our findings also suggest that TMT external advice seeking moderates the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and business model innovation. I discuss implications for theory and practice.
