In the trial 1, four 42-day-old Ross male chickens were sacrificed and divided the intestinal tract into duodenum (D), first to third section of jejunum (J1, J2 and J3), first to third section of ileum (I1, I2 and I3), ceca (C) and rectum (R). Digesta were collected to determine the digestibility of each fatty acid in each intestinal section. The results showed that except C18:0 were absorbed started at J2, all fatty acids were absorbed started at J1 and continuously absorbed up to I3. In the trial 2, eighty 24-day-old Ross chickens were allotted to 4 treatment with 4 replicates per treatment with 4 chickens per replicate and supplemented 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8% mixed oil (79% coconut oil and 21% soybean oil) in semi-purified diet, respectively. Chickens were sacrificed at 35-day-old and the intestinal tract were divided as in trial 1. Digesta were collected to determine the digestibility of each fatty acid in each intestinal section. The results showed that as expressed as apparent digestibility, the interaction between the treatment and intestinal section of the fatty acids were significant (P≤0.05) indicating that dietary fat level affects the absorption sites of fatty acids in the intestinal tract. The absorption site moved forward along the intestinal tract as dietary fat increased. As expressed as true digestibility, the interaction between the treatment and intestinal section of fatty acids were not significant (P>0.05) indicating that dietary fat level does not affect the absorption sites of fatty acids along the intestinal tract. D and J1 were the primary absorption sites. True digestibility could be more accurate because it avoids the interference of secretion of the endogenous fatty acids in the intestinal tract.
