While it is easy to share information over the Internet, people have begun to worry about protecting confidential information from being intercepted or tampered with during transmission. A common problem with booking taxies over the phone is that a taxi driver may not be able to accurately locate the passenger upon arrival (or vice versa). In addition, it is often difficult to ensure the service quality of taxi drivers. When a driver takes an unfamiliar route, it is often difficult for passengers to compare routes and log a complain case with the taxi company against the driver. While geolocation services with taxi booking apps may be able to solve the problems of traditional phone booking method, there is much concern about transmitting confidential and sensitive information of passengers. With increasing number of data security breaches in recent years, data protection during transmission has become an important topic. In this research, we propose novel method that uses Android mobile devices with GPS satellite positioning, SSL, and Google cloud services to create a secure platform for taxi booking. This platform provides the taxi booking service that secures the personal information of passengers and allows taxi drivers and passengers to easily locate each other at specified points.
