The material itself, the characteristics of the conversion into the creation of the various possibilities, is always the ideal goal of this course. Material research is to watch, think and implement the process of philosophy, through the form, color, composition, spatial elements of the combination of training, supplemented by technical and aesthetic requirements, the experimental exploration makes the material has a new look, and provides different areas of material in the application of imagination. Johnnas Itten, Moholy Nagy and Josef Albers’ teaching in material research reflects the changes of different development Bauhaus period, and their personal characteristics and working experience also have significant and lasting contributions on the development of material research. This research begins with to study these three important influences of Bauhaus teachers’ curriculum materials. By studying their teaching objectives, contents and thought to understand how material research develop in the different Bauhaus period. Johnnas Itten is in the expressionist period, and he placed emphasis on the texture of the material factors study. Itten’s subjective emotional and objective laws of teaching laid the foundation for material research. From scientifically objective point of view, Naji who is into constructivism study how students can achieve material physical balance of the structure through the three-dimensional trainings. Albers was raised in an artisan family, and he based on material characteristics and the technical know-how to conduct the rational and economic use of materials in his practice. He likes to give students’ reasonable restrictions in order to stimulate their creative thinking. Material research is the product of concept in Bauhaus holistic education. Above of these three Bauhaus masters have different thinking among material characteristics and application, which explain how material exploration can be multi-dimensional, profound and rich. It is of great significance for us to explore material properties and applications from diverse perspectives today; materials can be a link between different areas. My researchcan provides more information to today's designers to enhance their imagination, concepts, and possibilities for their design realization by sharing the understanding and application of materials in different areas.
