Therefore, a combination of four components, which includes nickel-metal hydride battery, a motor, a set of transmission and a power system was adopted, through using related mathematical equations to derive a most appropriate system specification for the lightweight electrical car, as the key reference parameters for the system design. Based on the drag force caused by gravitational forces, frictional force and mechanical inertia, the energy consumption equation were built to simulate the lightweight electrical car with MATLAB software. The combination of controlled driving current, gear shifting, selected system specification and architecture are used for simulating and analyzing energy consumption in one lap on the Suzuka Circuit. The energy consumption results were obtained with different constant current levels in the range of 5 to 8 amps. Furthermore, another analysis was executed based on the speed and acceleration models for the optimal control model. The analysis results showed the current selection, gear shifting, and energy consumption status in the lightweight electrical car while running on each section of the route. Based on these results, the remaining energy in the battery was also estimated. The result of the lightweight electrical car was 2 minutes and 27 seconds shorter than the result in 2015.
