It exhibits a number of advantageous features such as lightness, thinness, simple structure, high optical efficiency, and as well as high illuminance uniformity. There exists one problem, however: different emission light contents with oblique glares emerging from the hollow cavities varied due to the variation in cavity dimensions in our previous work. Therefore, we focused on the optical design of multifunctional optical films, which were designated for the improvement of oblique glare from the HCETLLs, integrating with the optical design of the hollow cavity in this study. Optical simulations and design was performed by use of optical simulation software ASAP. Due to the constraints of computation power, the scope of this study was limited to the small-size HCETLLs and its size was set to be 120 12 mm in optical simulations. All efforts were concentrated on the investigation of the effect of its thickness, which is the most significant parameter, on optical performance.
