The reasons may be that in general perception, MRP is a series of infinite scheduling, To effectively implement the production plan, one should also consider the manufacture and the modules. This study will discuss this topic through those modules’ production planning related issues by using Microsoft Dynamics NAV as an example. Based on the simulation of the four simulation scenarios, the results show that the NAV system is capable of MRP production planning with limited capacity. But when the capacity is not big enough, the follow-up adjustment of the production planning requires user interference, and cannot be automatically determined by the system to provide the optimal solution. Enterprises with less complex production planning could use the MRP function in ERP systems. This eliminates the general perception of MRP’s unlimited scheduling and provides more choices for the SMEs. Through a series of the inbound / outbound library operations simulation of a variety of functional options combination of the warehouse, we verify the NAV system provides powerful functions and high flexibility for a variety of different sizes of enterprises and modes of operation. Enterprises should consider their own situation and the needs of operations to select the appropriate model in those modes to support the operation of enterprises to create more competitive advantages.
