We use questionnaire survey data from “The Proposal of Citizenship and Polybasic Value” for the econometric analysis. Empirical results show that:(1)From estimated value views regardless of Bivariate Probit Model or Bivariate Order Probit Model, individual’s gender, level of education, national identification, and favor on political party has important influences on trade preference. (2)To go a step further viewing marginal effects from two models, we find that FTAs with the United States, Japan, or China are very much supported by male. Although FTAs with the United States, Japan, or China are not supported by female, but FTA with the United States and Japan are supported by female a little. (3)When the older individual age is, the more supports FTAs with the United States, Japan, or China. Besides, the younger individual age is, the more supports FTAs with the United States and Japan. (4)If the individual is from Southern Min than Mainlander supporting FTAs with the United States and Japan more. (5)When the lower individual’s level of education is, the better supports FTAs with the United States and Japan. (6)When the individual’s national identification is Taiwanese than Chinese, is not supporting FTAs with the United States, Japan, or China, but supporting FTA with the United States and Japan. (7)When the individual favors democracy than autocracy, is not supporting FTAs with the United States, Japan, or China, but supporting FTAs with the United States and Japan. (8)The Pan-blue than Pan-green upholder supports FTAs with the United States, Japan, or China, but the Pan-green than Pan-blue upholder supports FTAs with the United States and Japan. (9)The empirical results from Bivariate Probit model and Bivariate Order Probit Model are not exactly the same. In addition, there are many factors influencing individual’s preference on the attitude for FTA, especially the gender difference, level of education, national identification, and the favor on political party have more important influences than individual’s age, ethnic groups, and the attitude of mind for the democratic system.
